Atlanta Braves Lose Series To San Fran Giants

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Braves | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Braves and Giants have identical records after a poor series this week that ended last night with Randy Johnson getting his 299th win.
Next up are the Arizona Diamondbacks, who weren’t exactly easy to the Braves the week before.
After a stellar start against the Blue Jays Roy Halladay, Kenshin Kawakami returned to his old self with a pitiful performance against the Giants.
The Braves rotation, however, isn’t the major problem for once. It’s still the bullpen that cannot close games, especially if leading by one run. Mike Gonzales is good when he has two runs to work with, [...]

Kenshin Kawakami Outpitches Roy Halladay

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Braves | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Who knew Kenshin Kawakami had more than three pitches. The old-timer in Japan turned rookie in the United States outpitched Blue Jays star Roy Halladay for an exciting win tonight at Turner Field.
Kawakami had seven strikeouts. The Braves went into the ninth with a one-run lead.
Mike Gonzalez gave up a double in the ninth, before a pop-up and then an exciting play by Martin Prado to end the game. The Braves return to .500 for the year, keeping pace with the Phillies and Mets.
Matt Diaz hit a double in the eighth and he scored on Yunel Escobar’s ground [...]

Interleague Play Begins For Atlanta Against Old Foes Blue Jays

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Braves | COMMENTS: None Yet

After a less than stellar series against the woeful Colorado Rockies, the mediocre Atlanta Braves host the hot Toronto Blue Jays.
The series starts off with Jays top ace Roy Halladay against Kenshin Kawakami, who is 2-5 with a plus-5 ERA. Kawakami is not the pitcher the Braves should have facing Halladay, who is seeking is ninth win of this young season.
A win of this series could boost the confidence of a Braves team that teeters on destruction. The inconsistency is so mind-boggling that you never really do know what team will show up once the game begins [...]

Jair Jurrjens Pitches Gem Against Colorado Rockies

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Braves | COMMENTS: None Yet

Jair Jurrjens got some run support in a gem of a start against the Colorado Rockies tonight.
Casey Kotchman went 3-5, including a two-run double in the eighth, and Jurrjens pitched seven innings with eight strikeouts. The 8-1 win brings the Braves back to .500 for the year and in contention still in the division that no one is running away with early. Kelly Johnson went 3-4 in the game.
Mike Gonzalez closed the game with relative ease. The four-game series is tied 1-1. The Rockies didn’t hit after the fifth inning.
It looks like the Braves need to snag a power hitter before [...]

Atlanta Braves Lose To Colorado Rockies: One Run In 18 Innings Are Your Braves

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Braves | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Atlanta Braves continue to be the most inconsistent team in baseball, losing to the Colorado Rockies at home again, 5-1. Derek Lowe pitched well once again, but the Braves couldn’t get the offense going.
Jason Marquis just pitched a better game in front of a pitifully low turnout at Turner Field for the 18-19 Braves.
The Braves are now 6-11 at Turner Field, this time in front of 15,364, the smallest paid crowd since the stadium opened in 1997. Disgusting.
Marquis is coming off two games in which he allowed 16 runs–yes 16 runs–to opposing teams. Lowe, on the other hand, was [...]

Tomahawk Take To Take Over

AUTHOR: thelandryhat | IN: Braves | COMMENTS: None Yet

Welcome folks. My name is Dan and I am the new chief blogger for Tomahawk Take. I own and run BravesNuWorld, which I will probably just let die to work on this blog.
I’ve been a Braves fan since 1989. We all had a great run in the playoffs, only to watch the team these past four years steadily lose its luck.
I am also the chief blogger over at The Landry Hat, a Dallas Cowboys blog.
Stick here, as I will get ramping up very soon on Tomahawk Take!

McCann’s Big Bat, Vazquez’s Gem Fuel Braves Win

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Braves | COMMENTS: None Yet

Game No.29  Recap: Braves 6, Phillies 2
Looking at Brian McCann this afternoon, you’d be hard pressed to believe his vision has been bothersome.
In just his second game back from a 15-day stint on the disabled list, the Braves backstop returned to his accustom form as a dominant centerpiece in an otherwise lethargic Atlanta (14-16) lineup.
McCann [...]

Braves Botch Series Opener As Phillies Drop A Ten Spot

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Braves | COMMENTS: None Yet

Game No.29  Recap: Phillies 10,
Braves 6

Again, why exactly hasn’t Tommy Hanson been called up from AAA Gwinnett?
After tonight’s horrendous performance from Jo-Jo Reyes (0-2),  I  really don’t see there being any other excuses to keep the super prospect down in the minors.
After all, Reyes, who coming into tonight’s games had given up seven homers [...]
