Atlanta Braves Lose Series To San Fran Giants

The Braves and Giants have identical records after a poor series this week that ended last night with Randy Johnson getting his 299th win.

Next up are the Arizona Diamondbacks, who weren’t exactly easy to the Braves the week before.

After a stellar start against the Blue Jays Roy Halladay, Kenshin Kawakami returned to his old self with a pitiful performance against the Giants.

The Braves rotation, however, isn’t the major problem for once. It’s still the bullpen that cannot close games, especially if leading by one run. Mike Gonzales is good when he has two runs to work with, but when he comes in with just a one-run lead, the results can be pretty scary 60 percent of the time. That’s not good.

The Braves also lack true power in the middle of the batting order. There doesn’t seem to be much effort to find an outfielder who can smack the ball, either.
