Martin Prado Experiment Is Working

Posted by: thelandryhat

Is Bobby Cox finally getting it? For years we have been left with Cox keeping his veterans in despite a bench of unknowns who truly want to make a difference on the team.

I’d be the first to sign a petition that the Atlanta Braves need to move on with Kelly Johnson and Jeff Francoeur and give these young guys a chance full time. Finally, Cox decided to do that by announcing Martin Prado as a starter.

He’s thanked the Braves with two huge nights in a row against rival Philadelphia Phillies, bringing them 2 games closer to the top with an 11-1 whipping tonight. Once again, Prado was the man. A special hat tip also need to go to pitcher Jair Jurrjens, who pitched a one-hit beauty against a hard-hitting squad.

Cox is likely, and quote honestly hopefully, in his last year with the Braves. A few more powerful wins and a 10-game wins streak might instill the energy this team needs for the long haul. I don’t think any of us can say Bobby doesn’t deserve to leave the game on a high note.

Having never been a fan of Cox, I will be very glad when he leaves. As for Francoeur and Kelly, I want the Braves to send them packing. I have just never been comfortable with Kelly at second. He still muffs the easiest plays, and my all time Kelly bonehead play was dropping that pop fly against the Phillies last year with 2 outs, with us in the lead, then the Phils come back to win.
The Braves could just play out the season with him to see how he ends up, but I just don’t think he is going to get any better, and we need more from RF. I am all for both of them being traded TODAY!

At 68 yrs old Bobby Cox will surely go down as one of the best managers in MLB history and a Hall of Famer. However, it would be safe to say that the majority of Braves fans feel it is time for Cox to move on. He doesn’t bring the energy or capture the young players attention like he once did. The Braves were certainly a dynasty and would have like to win more World Series rings, but Cox should know that his time has come.

Not a fan of Cox? you’re a douchebag.

Stan, come on. Cox is getting old and he’s made some real interesting coaching decisions these last few years. But, I personally still love him.
