Things went awry for Kawakami with Pirates Right Fielder Garrett Jones at the plate leading off the seventh inning. Chipper walked twice on the night and passed Eddie Matthews for the all time lead. Jones now has 1378 walks in 9441 plate appearances. Martin Prado had three hits and two RBI’s to help pace an offense that came out swinging after a one hour and seventeen minute rain delay halted the game before the top of the fifth inning. The Braves catcher tweaked the quad in the fourth inning and played through the seventh before being lifted for a pinch runner. The Braves 20 year old Rookie of the Year Candidate trails Ryan Braun, Jayson Werth, Shane Victorino, Andre Ethier, and Matt Holiday. Whether or not Heyward ultimately gets voted to start or not he will have to be considered heavily for a spot in the All Star Game. David O’Brien Article The Braves put Outfielder Brent Clevlen on the Disabled List with a sprained toe and recalled Gregor Blanco from Triple A Gwinnett. This will be Blanco’s first taste of Major League action this season and he has batted .294 with 1 homer and 10 RBI’s at Gwinnett. Blanco can play any of the outfield positions and will give Bobby Cox another option in Center Field if the need should arise.
