Around the FanSided Baseball Network

With the Braves having an off day today I decided to look around the FanSided Network and see what is going on amongst the National League Blogs and particularly the teams that make up the NL Eastern Division.

The Braves will open up a three game series with the Florida Marlins starting tomorrow. Michael Jong over at Marlin Maniac discusses and compares the season long slump of Chris Coghlan to Dan Uggla’s last season.

Kenshin Kawakami will be trying to figure out how to keep Coghlan in that slump on Tuesday night.

The Rising Apple Blog reports on the New York Mets injury problems with John Maine and Luis Castillo. They also discuss whether or not the Mets are a viable destination for Astros Pitcher Roy Oswalt who has asked Houston for a trade.

That Ball’s Outta Here has a great article about former Phillies pitcher Lew “Hicks” Moren who invented the knuckleball. The same pitch that Boston Pitcher Tim Wakefield baffled Phillies hitters with on Sunday.

Looking a little further around the National League:

Rum Bunter recaps the Pirates victory via a Ryan Doumit’s walk off home run on Sunday against the Braves.

Redbird Rants reports on a spat that Albert Pujols and Manager Tony LaRussa had in the dugout after a failed steal attempt by Ryan Ludwick. Pujols has struggled at the plate during the month of May and the Cards are feeling some heat from Cincinnati in the Central Division.

Finally the FanSided Network’s General Baseball blog Call to the Pen discusses five stupid things that have happened in the Majors already this season ranging from Chan Ho Park to Hanley Ramirez.
