The Braves won a see-saw offensive affair on Tuesday night turning away the Diamondbacks 7-5. The Braves overcame three early Diamondbacks home runs in the victory. Kris Medlen surrendered those home runs in the first six batters he faced. He settled down after that and didn’t allow anything until the fifth inning. Medlen also did some damage at the plate with an RBI single and by also working two walks. Medlen also scored twice but had to leave the game after jamming his non throwing shoulder into the ground while avoiding a tag at home plate. His pitching line wasn’t stellar, 5 IP, 5 HA, 5 ER, but he kept the Braves in the game.

More after the jump

Offensively the Braves answered back time and again. Omar Infante and Melky Cabrera each had three hits on the night. Infante played second base giving Martin Prado a night off to rest  a sore hand. Rookie Jason Heyward also had two hits on the night with an RBI but also struck out three more times.

Of all the hits Troy Glaus probably had the biggest one as it was his RBI double in the eighth inning that gave the Braves the lead for good. That RBI was Glaus’ 45th of the season which now ties him for the National League lead with Milwaukee Brewer Casey McGehee. Since a slow start in April Glaus has been everything that the Braves could have asked for and more. He seems to be driving in runs every night and has been clutch. He also deserves to start getting some All Star consideration as he has been as responsible for the Braves turn around as anyone.

Chipper Jones returned to the lineup after missing several games with a swollen right ring finger. He went 1 for 6 on the night. Prado is expected not to be out of the lineup for long. Melky Cabrera again got the start in Center Field for Nate McLouth and had three more hits. McLouth did have a pinch hit single in the ninth inning.

Kenshin Kawakami will be looking for his first win of the season tonight. He will be opposed by Diamondbacks righty Ian Kennedy.
