Cody Ross: 2-8, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2BB, 2 K

Chris Coghlan: 2-3

What to look for:

As the Braves kick off a three game set in Florida all eyes may be upon Marlins outfielder Cody Ross as trade rumors between the Marlins and Braves swirl. With Nate McLouth back in the lineup and the trade deadline a short eight days away, the Braves will be evaluating as to whether or not they need help in Center Field or not. The Braves begin the series with a seven game lead over the second place Philadelphia Phillies.

My Take on the Opposition:

A few Marlins have hit Braves starter Derek Lowe pretty well over there career. Hanley Ramirez and Jorge Cantu in particular. It will be important for Lowe to limit base runners and have those guys come to the plate with no one on base. Throw out the records in this series, the Marlins historically play the Braves tough and I expect no different in this one.

Game Notes:

Per Dave O’Brien AJC

Tropical Storm Bonnie moved through South Florida today but appears to be all cleared out hopefully by game time. It will be windy so fly balls could become adventurous.

The Braves will miss Florida Ace Josh Johnson this trip through Florida.
