Louisville 3, Gwinnett 2
Mike Minor: 6 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
Brandon Hicks: 1-4, HR, RBI

Three of Minor’s four hits allowed were doubles and it cost him three runs, all of which scored on sacrifices. Otherwise he was almost spotless, allowing just one single and striking out seven in six innings. Another great start for him. Scott Proctor, Lee Hyde, and Stephen Marek each had a scoreless inning behind him. Gwinnett’s offense was silent. Matt Young and J.C. Boscan added two hits each.

Frederick 9, Myrtle Beach 7
Dan Nelson: 2-4, HR, 2 RBI
Luis Sumoza: 2-4, HR, 2 RBI
Michael Jones: 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI

The three above were the only players worth mentioning. Matt Crim was bombed in his start, allowing seven runs in 2.2 innings. Samuel Sime added two hits.

Greenville 7, Rome 4
Robinson Lopez: 5 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, K
Ramon Flores: 3-5, 3 RBI

Lopez hasn’t done much lately, allowing 14 earned runs over his past 12.2 innings with seven walks and five strikeouts. It’s a pretty big snag considering what was expected of him this season and where he was at the beginning of it. He has plenty of time though. Eric Curly added two hits. Kyle Rose had a double and walk and scored both times. Joe Leonard added an RBI.

Danville 7, Johnson City 5
Kyle Farrell: 7 IP, 3 H, ER, BB, 4 K
Jason Mowry: 2-4, 2B, HR, 3 RBI
Barrett Kleinknecht: 2-4, 2 RBI
David Rohm: 2-4, RBI

It’s just his third start for Farrell but it was easily his best, going three more innings than his previous high. Tyler Stovall struggled behind him, allowing four runs – two earned – and recording just one out. Kleinknecht now has a nine-game hitting streak and is 17-42 over that stretch with two homers and ten RBIs. Evan Gattis added two more hits and has a ten-game hitting streak. Elmer Reyes added an RBI.

GCL Braves 8, GCL Yankees 4
Matt Lipka: 3-5, 4 RBI
Wilson Rivera: 1-3, 2B, RBI

I feel like I’m reading the same box score every night. Lipka added three more hits and four more RBIs and now has an RBI in five straight games, with a total of ten over that stretch. He’s 18-43 in his last ten games with a homer and 13 RBIs, along with nine stolen bases without being caught once.
