Minor had a pretty good night. He gave up one soft single in seven shutout innings and struck out eight. Obviously it bested any of his AAA performances and it lowered his ERA to 1.99 in 31.2 innings for Gwinnett. He definitely could be useful to the Braves down the stretch if needed, and if the Braves would want to go that route.  The offense went crazy for ten runs. Freeman now has a five-game hitting streak and is 4-7 with four RBIs in his last two games. Nate McLouth hit a home run to lead off the bottom of the first for the second straight night.

Huntsville 5, Mississippi 4
Kyle Cofield: 3 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
Shawn McGill: 1-4, HR, 2 RBI
Donell Linares: 2-4, RBI

Cofield has allowed nine runs in his last 8.1 innings and has given up 19 earned runs in 32.1 innings for AA. Juan Abreu pitched a scoreless inning, striking out two. Antoan Richardson and Eric Duncan added two hits each.

Myrtle Beach 9, Winston-Salem 6
Matthew Crim: 5 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, K
Cory Harrilchak: 3-4, 2B, 3B, RBI
Jordan Kreke: 2-3, RBI
Osman Marval: 2-2, 2 2B, RBI

Crim struggled again and has allowed ten runs on 15 hits in his last 7.2 innings, including three home runs. He has hit a major wall after skipping Rome to keep up with age. Michael Jones added a homer and three RBIs. Gerardo Rodriguez picked up an RBI and Matthew Kennelly picked up two.

Myrtle Beach 11, Winston-Salem 1
J.J. Hoover: 5 IP, 3 H, R, 3 BB, 3 K
Samuel Sime: 1-2, HR, 2 RBI
Braeden Schlehuber: 1-2, 3B, 2 RBI
Luis Sumoza: 2-3, 2B, RBI

Hoover gave up a triple and two singles and an unearned run over five innings. He only struck out three and walked three, but it’s another good outing for Hoover. He has allowed more than one run in only one start since the beginning of July (six starts). Cole Miles and Dan Nelson added two RBIs each. Osman Marval added another RBI as a pinch hitter. Cory Harrilchak went 1-3 with a walk.

Asheville 2, Rome 1
Robinson Lopez: 3.1 IP, 5 H, ER, BB, K
David Hale: 4.2 IP, 3 H, ER, 3 BB, 2 K
Christian Bethancourt: 2-4, 2B, HR, RBI
Edward Salcedo: 2-4, 2B

Lopez still gave up a lot of hits and didn’t strike out anybody, but the one run came on a home run and the rest were singles. The only offense and all four hits came from the two above. My pep talk must have worked for Salcedo. Joe Leonard is down to a .276 OBP and hasn’t walked since July 22.

Danville 6, Princeton 3
Lucas La Point: 5 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, BB, 5 K
Barrett Kleinknecht: 3-4, 2B, 2 RBI
Jakob Dalfonso: 2-4, RBI
Andrelton Simmons: 3-5, 2 2B

La Point continues to show solid BB/K rates, walking one and striking out five. He has five walks to 25 strikeouts in 29.1 innings. Evan Gattis and Joseph Terdoslavich added an RBI each. Simmons broke a 0-10 skid with three hits – two doubles – and he stole two bases to make it nine on the season.

GCL Pirates 4, GCL Braves 1

Yoshinori Yamarin: 2 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, BB, 3 K
Brandon Drury: 1-4, HR, RBI
Fernando De Los Santos: 2-3

De Los Santos is up to a .404 OBP with a 5-12 stretch. Matt Lipka went 0-3 with a walk.

DSL Braves 3, DSL Blue Jays 2
Rafael Briceno: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
Ignacio Geronimo: 3 IP, BB, 3 K
Gerardo Reyes: 1-3, 2B, RBI

Briceno gave up one double and four singles over the six innings of two-run ball. He continues to pitch well, recording a 2.67 ERA with 13 walks in 54 innings. Geronimo hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last 12 innings and has given up just five hits over that stretch with two walks and ten strikeouts. He has allowed just two earned runs in 27.2 innings, six walks and 26 strikeouts. Not bad.
