Braves Hammer Marlins 12-3, Hudson K’s Career High 13
If anyone ever needed a game like this it was the Atlanta Braves. The bats woke up early pounding out six runs in the second inning against Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco. Those runs were plenty enough for Tim Hudson on this night. Hudson continued his magnificent season by pitching seven innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out a career high thirteen batters. Hudson runs his record to 15-5 on the season and his performance helped the Braves snap a four game losing streak. Offensively the theme of the night was to do the little things. Braves Derrek Lee Leaves Game
New Braves First Baseman Derrek Lee left Saturday Night’s blow out win over the Marlins with a mild side strain. Carroll Rogers reports that he will likely miss Sunday’s game against the Marlins as well. Bobby Cox had this to say: “I don’t think it’s too bad,” Cox said. ” We had a six-run lead at the time. We all know six runs sometimes dissipates quickly but it was a good time for him to go ahead and get it treated and take the night off and maybe tomorrow.” Hopefully this is something that is not related to his recent [...]

Hanson Allows Four Homers in 7-1 Loss to Marlins
Pure garbage is about the best way to describe this game. The Marlins hit four home runs off Tommy Hanson in route to a 7-1 win, giving the Braves their fourth straight loss. As if a preview of things to come, Cameron Maybin hit a home run on the first pitch of the game for the Marlins. The next batter, Logan Morrison, did the same for a two-run lead without recording an out. Terrible defense led to two runs in the second on a Brad Davis sac fly RBI and Chris Volstad RBI single (Jason Heyward overthrew the cutoff man [...]
Rockies Stun Braves, Win 12-10
Over the course of any season in professional sports, particularly in baseball, it is difficult to weigh a certain win or loss with any more importance than those of it’s everyday counterparts. Still there are games that stand out. That are easily remembered and today’s loss to the Rockies is one that is hard to forget. At this point the Braves could have dodged a bullet. The Phillies also lost their third in a row and the Braves lead is still 2.5 games. However, if the Braves go on to lose the division or the wildcard by a game then [...]
Atlanta Braves (73-53) vs Colorado Rockies (65-60) Wednesday August 25th – 3:10 PM ET (SportSouth) Preview: For the Braves coming into Wednesday the goal is simply to get a win anyway that they can. More bad defense and zero hitting resulted in a second straight loss for the Braves as they dropped to the Rockies, 5-2. Both teams got the game going with long balls as Carlos Gonzalez hit a two-run shot in the first and Alex Gonzalez hit a solo homer in the second. Neither team scored again until the sixth, when Seth Smith hit a solo homer for a two-run Rockies lead. Gonzalez cut the lead to one again in the seventh on an RBI single, but Dexter Fowler drove in two in the eighth for a three-run lead, where it remained. You [...]

Omar Infante’s Current Run and Future on the Team
We learned yesterday that Omar Infante was named NL Player of the Week. It should come as no surprise when you look at the stats and what he accomplished. I mean, he is an All Star. Infante is riding a 12-game hitting streak. Over that stretch, he is 23-52 with three home runs and seven RBIs. Over the week-long stretch that earned him the honors, he was 15-35 with a double, two triples, three homers, and five RBIs. They aren’t mind-blowing numbers, but considering he went 7-14 with a double, three homers, and five RBIs in the three-game series in [...]
The Braves fought back with two runs late but Todd Helton broke their backs in the eighth as the Rockies beat the Braves in the series opener, 5-4. The first four innings were all Rockies. Carlos Gonzalez doubled in a run in the third and Ian Stewart hit a two-run home run in the fourth for a three-run lead. Martin Prado put the Braves on the board in the fifth with a two-run home run, but the Rockies answered back in the sixth with an RBI single by Helton. Rick Ankiel hit a solo homer in the seventh to cut [...]
