Gwinnett 9, Toledo 6
Todd Redmond: 5 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
Diory Hernandez: 4-4, 2 2B, 3B, 2 RBI
Barbaro Canizares: 2-4, 2 RBI
Matt Young: 1-4, 2B, 2 RBI

Redmond was knocked around for four doubles and a homer in five innings. Michael Broadway gave up his first run in seven innings for Gwinnett. Stephen Marek pitched a scoreless inning and has a 0.77 ERA. Craig Kimbrel pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. Nate McLouth went 2-5 and Clint Sammons went 2-4. Brandon Hicks added a solo homer.

Huntsville 5, Mississippi 0
Randall Delgado: 4 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 6 K

Delgado ran into early trouble in the first with three singles and a walk that led to two runs. A single and double scored another in the third and a solo homer in the fourth was his fourth run allowed. Delgado was knocked around a good bit, which is unlike his last start, where he dealt more with control issues. He’s still racking up strikeouts, however. The Braves offense scattered four singles.

Myrtle Beach 2, Winston-Salem 1
Cory Rasmus: 6 IP, 5 H, ER, 2 BB, 3 K
Dan Nelson: 2-5, RBI
Mycal Jones: 2-5, 2B

Rasmus pitched six solid innings, with his only trouble coming in the fourth. A walk, single, and double brought home the only run allowed, but otherwise he was great. It’s a great effort for Rasmus in his second start at MB. Yeliar Castro pitched three perfect innings, striking out two. Luis Avilan pitched two scoreless innings, striking out four. Nelson and Michael Jones were the only offense with an RBI apiece, good enough to win in 11 innings.

Asheville 10, Rome 0
Willie Kempf: 5 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 3 ER, BB, 3 K

Kempf pitched good until running into trouble in the fourth. An error by Edward Salcedo extended the inning with two outs and a single and double brought home a run. Dinks in the fifth brought trouble again for Kempf and a double and single led to three runs. It’s a tough way to make your Rome debut but it wasn’t that bad. Rome’s offense managed four singles.

Princeton 4, Danville 0
Dan Jurik: 6 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, BB, 4 K
Ryan Query: 2-4, 2B

Not much to report. Jurik was knocked around some and Jamie Hayes pitched two scoreless innings behind him. Danville scattered five hits, the only extra base hit coming from Query.

GCL Pirates 4, GCL Braves 3
Tyler Hess: 4.2 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, BB, 5 K
Brandon Drury: 1-4, 2B, RBI
Cory Brownsten: 1-4, HR, RBI

Hess was knocked around in his first start in the GCL, giving up two doubles and a homer for a total of seven hits in less than five total innings.

DSL Angels 2, DSL Braves 1
Jean Carlos Gil: 5 IP, 4 H, 7 K

Gil almost matched his last start when he pitched six shutout innings, allowing three hits, no walks, and striking out seven. He’s dominating the DSL and has a 1.45 ERA.

Roster Notes:
OF Willie Cabrera has been called up to AAA Gwinnett. Newly acquired OF Wilkin Ramirez was assigned to Gwinnett as well.
