Chris Resop got banged around the Gwinnett offense could only must three hits, all singles in a 9-3 loss to Toledo. Nate McLouth was hitless on the night but did drive in 2 runs with a ground out and a sacrifice fly. Cristhian Martinez pitched 2.1 innings of hitless baseball iin relief of Resop. Scott Proctor got hammered giving up 4 runs (3 earned) on 2 hits in only a third of an inning.

Huntsville 2, Mississippi 1

Jaye Chapman 1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO

Mississippi takes a tough 2-1 loss in 10 innings thanks to a couple of walks and a throwing error from pitcher Juan Abreu. The Braves had 8 hits on the night but could only must 1 run coming on a Luis Bolivar home run. Jacob Thompson pitched six shut out innings for Mississippi before the bullpen gave up the lead and the game.

Sloppy defense and the long ball did in the Rome Braves on a hot South Atlantic League Afternoon. Joe Leonard collected 2 hits including his 3rd home run of the season for the Rome Braves. Jeffrey Lorick pitched better than his line suggests but still allowed two home runs. Stephen Kent got touched up for two runs in two innings of work and raised his ERA to 1.56. Edward Salcedo handled DH duties in this one going 1-3.

Danville 3, Bluefield 2

Dalton Accord 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 2 SO, (W 1-1)

David Rohm delivered a walk off single to give the Danville Braves the victory. Danville starter Ryan Weber pitched extremely well striking out 9 in 6 innings of work. Dalton Accord pitched around 4 walks but didn’t allow a hit and picked up the victory.

Game 1 of a double header for the Braves Dominican Summer League team saw a great pitching performance from Jesus Saldeno. He pitched a complete game seven innings while striking out 9.

Espinosa pitched around bad defense and even worse offense to keep the game respectable. The DSL Braves offense struggled combining for only seven hits in the double header.
