Mauro Gomez hit a two run homer and four Mississippi Pitchers combined to shut out Mobile on Wednesday. Tyler Pastornicky had one hit to raise his average to .233. Cody Johnson is going in the other direction going 0-2 on the night dropping his average down to .198. Johnson did walk twice on the night. Juan Abreu closed this game out with a perfect ninth striking out two along the way.

All five of Myrtle Beach’s runs came in the 8th inning. Matthew Crim carried a shut out into the ninth before surrendering a run. Angelo Paulino came on to record the final out.

A two run eighth propelled the Rome Braves to a 5-3 victory at State Mutual Stadium. Carlos Perez got the start and pitched around some suspect Rome defense. David Hale came in in the 5th to finish and earned the victory. Edward Salcedo committed his 16th error of the season.

The Braves got shut out and were only able to must two hits in the process. This was a pitchers duel as the Yankees scored all of their runs in the eighth inning.
