Gwinnett 5, Lehigh Valley 2
Brandon Beachy: 7 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, BB, 4 K
Lee Hyde: 2 IP, 2 H, K
Craig Kimbrel: 1 IP, BB
Freddie Freeman: 2-5, 2 RBI
Joe Thurston: 2-5, RBI
J.C. Boscan: 2-3, 2 R, 2B, BB

Who is Brandon Beachy? One heck of a pitcher. He gave up his first hit in the fourth, allowing a single and double and causing both runs to score on a groundout and sac fly. After that he gave up one more single and that was it. Beachy has allowed three runs in his last 13 innings. Freeman continues to stay white hot with the bat.

Mississippi 8, Birmingham 1
Tim Gustafson: 5 IP, 4 H, ER, 2 BB, 2 K
Jesus Sucre: 2-5, 3B, HR, 3 RBI
Luis Bolivar: 3-4, 3B, RBI
Tyler Pastornicky: 2-4, RBI

Gustafson was efficient for five innings, allowing a run on four singles and two walks. Sucre had a big night for the Braves to break out of his skid. Mauro Gomez added an RBI and two walks. Eric Duncan recorded a double and RBI and scored twice. Yasser Gomez picked up a couple singles. Cody Johnson went 0-5 with three strikeouts and is 0-20 with nine strikeouts in his last six games.

Potomac 4, Myrtle Beach 3
Brett Oberholtzer: 5 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 3 ER, BB, 4 K
Dan Nelson: 2-4, RBI
Mycal Jones: 1-2, 2 RBI, BB

After giving up two runs in his last ten innings, Oberholtzer allowed four total tonight in five innings. He is maintaining a solid BB/K ratio, walking seven and striking out 38 in his last 41 innings. Matthew Kennelly added three hits and Michael Jones added two for the Pelicans. Cory Harrilchak went 0-5 with three strikeouts.

Rome 6, Greenville 4
Ryan Weber: 6 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, BB, K
Steven Kent: 2.2 IP, 2 H, BB, 5 K
Joe Leonard: 3-5, 2B, 3 RBI
Todd Cunningham: 3-5, 2B, RBI
Riaan Spanjer-Furstenburg: 2-4, 2 RBI
Philip Gosselin: 3-4, 3 R, BB

Weber appeared for Rome for the first time in a month and it was his first start for them after a failed attempt in the pen earlier in the season. It went pretty well as he allowed five singles and one walk in six innings, though he only struck out one. He got 11 groundouts to five flyouts. Kent got five strikeouts to raise his total to 34 in 21.1 innings. It’s good to see some bigger offense from Cunningham. He was puttering along for a while there.

Burlington 4, Danville 0
Aaron Northcraft: 6.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, BB, 4 K
Elmer Reyes: 2-4, 2B

Northcraft pitched a solid six-plus innings, allowing four singles and a walk. The big righty is pitching well lately but has just nine strikeouts in his last 17.1 innings. However, he lives on the ground, evident by 12 groundouts to three flyouts tonight. I feel he is one to watch once he makes his way to Rome.
