Breaking News: Brandon Beachy to Make MLB Debut Tonight Against Phillies

According to Braves announcer Jim Powell via Twitter, rookie pitcher Brandon Beachy will make his Major League Debut tonight against the Philadelphia Phillies subbing for an injured Jair Jurrjens.

Jurrjens reportedly tweaked his knee during a bullpen session last Friday and is still suffering from the effects of it.

For those wondering who Beachy is, he was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2008. Since then he has rocketed through the Braves Minor League system. He pitched much of this season at Double A Mississippi where he was 3-1 with a 1.47 ERA in 27 appearances (6 starts) He was later promoted to Triple A Gwinnett where he was 2-0 with a 2.17 ERA in 7 starts.
