Francoeur And Bounce-Backs

As I’m sure you all know by now, Dayton Moore continues with his attempt at setting up Atlanta’s AL franchise, this week adding two more former Braves to his roster in Jeff Francoeur and Melky Cabrerra. While most Braves fans I know think Moore could risk being involuntarily committed for these additions, it becomes more understandable when you throw in all the constraints he has to work around.

I did get a serious chuckle out of this when I started reading all the quotes from Moore about these guys being the kind of players you could count on to “bounce-back”. After thinking about it, I believe what he was trying to say was that you could count on them to regularly have bad years to try to recover from. Then I also figured that Moore hadn’t looked at Frenchy’s 2010 stats all that closely, since they were almost exactly his career norms after his first 162 games! Then again, maybe he’s only looking for a small bounce.

Ah, the joys of off-season spin!
