Good Article On Tyler Pastornicky

Hello again everyone from the summer paradise known as southeast Michigan. It’s another day, another challenge, as the air conditioning is out at our offices today. Since it’s “only 88” (their words), it’s not a priority for the repair guys, as they say they’ll try to get here today. I’m thinking of changing the dress code for today to beachwear and making a party out of it!

Back to baseball, I ran across a great article today on our sister site, “Seedlings To Stars“, on Braves prospect Tyler Pastornicky. For those fans of Fred Owens’ writing, you’ll remember that Tyler is a shortstop in the Braves system and now the heir apparent at shortstop for 2012. You may all also know that both Fred and I believe that an upgrade at shortstop is a very pressing need for the Braves and that the right addition could also address the needs the team has for a right handed bat and for speed at the top of the order.

The article, which you can read here, posits that perhaps the play of Alex Gonzalez has made Pastornicky the best shortstop the Braves have right now, and that perhaps the time is right to move him up from AAA Gwinnett to the big team.

I’m not sure I’m ready to do that just yet, as Tyler has only played a few games at AAA since his very recent promotion from AA. I am ready to pull the plug on Alex Gonzalez at least versus right handed pitching, as he has sunken to the level of automatic out there.

Give the article a read and let us know what you think!
