Braves match up well with the Baltimore Orioles: Trade Rumors

facebooktwitterreddit

I am sure you all have seen by now but the Braves and Orioles have apparently had trade talks. Per MLB Trade Rumors:

"The Orioles and Braves have discussed a deal that included both righty Jair Jurrjens and infielder/outfielder Martin Prado, reported Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports yesterday… The Orioles don’t seem to be in a position to move significant young players for two years of Jurrjens, despite their current rotation uncertainty."

This is the best timed rumor of the off season actually as I am going to be going over Adam Jones later today. No one has said a lot about Adam Jones but he is probably going to be the center piece of a deal if this does end up happening. There have been rumors of Jurrjens and Prado as well as just Jurrjens.

You guys know how much I like Prado so I am obviously on the side rooting for a Jurrjens only trade.

Andrew Vigliotti of Ball Game Talk  goes over some potential trade scenarios and I am really a fan of the first scenario.

"Scenario one: Orioles acquire Jurrjens for Adam Jones, Robert Bundy, Jonathon Schoop"

That sounds good to me. The pitching depth wouldn’t take as big a hit with Bundy added to the organization and Jonathan Schoop would give us a nice second base prospect. I will talk about what Jones would bring us more in my post later today but it would be an upgrade to the offense.

"Acquiring Jurrjens makes sense for the Orioles as they are in need of pitching. Their rotation is young and somewhat under question."

Vig says that the trade could make sense for the Orioles but he also told me that because of where the Orioles are at as a team, they are going to want to hang on to their prospects.

We will just have to wait and see what happens…
