Player Projections Wrap-Up

facebooktwitterreddit

After a few weeks I have completed the projections for all of the probably starters in 2012. If you are interested I can do the bench players (including Constanza and Sutton) as well but I don’t know how useful their projections could be. They won’t get a ton of at bats and they will be even less accurate than the ones I have already done. Projections are never going to be accurate, they just give you a good guess as to where a player should be.

Based on the projections our team should be fine offensively. Many players should have better seasons and there are only two players who we could expect some decline from. Chipper Jones because of his age, and Freddie Freeman. Lots of people might not even think Freeman will have a worse year but don’t be surprised if his numbers take a little dip.

Jason Heyward, Martin Prado, and Brian McCann should all have better seasons because of health. We should be able to give all three of these guys days off regularly to make sure they are staying 100%.

Dan Uggla and Michael Bourn should continue to produce like they always do. Hopefully Uggla can start off better than last year and just stay steady in the middle of the order. That would go a long way for the team’s success.

The only real question mark we have is with Tyler Pastornicky, who will be getting his first Major League stint. Even if he performs below expectations he shouldn’t be any worse than Alex Gonzalez with the bat.

Here are the full player projections excluding McCann (featured) and Pastornicky (rookie)  if you haven’t seen them or would like to re read them:

Lee, has done a great job handling the pitchers and today he finished up the projected starting rotation of Hudson/Hanson/Beachy/Jurrjens/Minor with his piece on Mike Minor. You can find the Minor post in the popular section at the top of the Take, and the others I will link for you:

As well as finishing up the main player projections (we still may do bench players/bullpen if you guys would like to see them) I have finally updated the poll at the right and I will be leaving it open longer, so more people can vote on it. Be sure to check it out and let us know what you think. As always thanks for your support!
