The Justin Upton Whirlwind

The Atlanta Braves and the Arizona Diamondbacks have supposedly begun further talks about the possible trade that would feature Justin Upton.

After months of hearsay throughout the Internet world of linking the Braves with Upton, could the deal actually be happening?  Twitter is getting bombarded with this topic and it will likely be trending before to long.

What I’m gathering would be a package that would include Julio Teheran, plus at least two other prospects or MLB players.  Evan Gattis may be involved within the trade plus a top infield prospect Nick Ahmed.  Gattis is coming off a huge winter league season where he displayed his tremendous power.  If the package were indeed Teheran, Gattis and Ahmed, the Dbacks would be getting three top prospects from the Braves and may, in time, win on this trade.

But, would the Dbacks accept that trade?  Teheran had a disappointing season last year for being the Braves top prospect and did not show ace like material during his brief stint in the majors.  Plus, neither Gattis nor Ahmed has had a major league at bat.  I would say the Braves would need to include another piece, a major league pitcher, say a Jonny Venters or Eric O’Flaherty.  With this, I believe Dbacks accept the offer and the Braves see an outfield of Up, Up and JHey!!

The Braves community seems to be in favor of this trade but also a few Braves players have tweeted about the possible acquiring of Justin Upton.

B.J. Upton – Wow these ‪@JUS10UP10 rumors have me excited. Please don’t tease me like this… Would be a dream come true if it happens

Jason Heyward RT – Confirmed that ‪#Braves have indeed made offer to Dbacks for Justin Upton.

The Arizona Diamondbacks GM Kevin Towers is going on vacation on Friday so a deal may be in the near future.
