Super Bowl Sunday
By Jeff Schafer
Yes, this is a baseball site and 99% of the time we’re talking something related to baseball. But today is Super Bowl Sunday and with over 100 million people tuning into one event, I figured we could have a post on today’s activities.

During a little water-cooler talking throughout the week, I heard everything from people wanting to see Ray Lewis win because of his retirement, to craving over the Colin Kaepernick story. I’m not sure if “The Mothership” spent the entire week talking about the Harbaugh brothers Super Bowl because I tried to stay away from that channel, but I’m guessing they did.
I was on the bandwagon with the Ray Lewis story of him retiring after a defeat in the playoffs. Kind of reminds me of my favorite player growing up, John Elway and how he left the NFL on top. I watched “A Football Life: Ray Lewis” and saw some inspiring characteristics that he portrays in his daily life. But then the alleged deer antler spray story came out. I understand this was his last hoorah and that he’d do anything to win, like most competitors would, but another saga in his story. He claims the allegations are false, innocent until proven guilty, and we should adhere by that. Baltimore, as an entire team, is playing extremely well both offensively and defensively and deserves their right for a shot to be champions.
San Francisco’s quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, truly has a moving story. Click on the link below to examine deeper into his story. For the past few years, San Fran has had a champion caliber defense but now finally have the offense to get to the championship game. Offensively, the 49ers’ are a fun team to watch with multiple playmakers that can get into the end zone. But if your like most Atlanta Falcons fans, you probably hate to see this team win.
Super Bowl XLVII should be a great game, as they usually are. I’m going to go against what the Madden 13 Super Bowl sim predicted and go with the San Francisco 49ers winning 31-24.
