The Braves went shopping on Wednesday afternoon with reports coming in that the Braves have acquired Luis Ayala from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange from minor league left handed pitcher Chris Jones.

Ayala has played in the majors since 2003 with the Montreal Expos, Washington Nationals, New York Mets, Minnesota Twins, Florida (Miami) Marlins, New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles and now your Atlanta Braves.  He’s a 35 year old right handed relief pitcher with lots of experience but has really never been that go to pitcher when needed.

This isn’t a breaking news, huge story line but the move is kind of interesting.  Stacking up on the bullpen, does this mean they aren’t confident in Jonny Venters return?  Or maybe they received additional news on the injury that we haven’t heard yet.
