As it’s Sunday and brunch is the American way, a short buffet for your perusal but first. . .

Douglas Adams says the “Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything” is 42.  I’m not positive he’s right though I suspect he may be. However, I am positive everyone – baseball fan or not – should see 42 – The True Story of an American Legend (Jackie Robinson).

. . . Gattis, 26, is a movie waiting to happen, at least until pitchers figure him out. But maybe they won’t figure him out so easily. Gattis has a short swing, a good eye, a game plan every at-bat.. . .

Streaking Braves lower majors-best ERA to 1.98 (AJC)

The Braves have posted a 1.60 ERA during their eight-game winning streak to lower their majors-leading ERA to 1.98. Saturday’s 3-1 win was their fifth decided by two runs or fewer during the winning streak.

Eric O’Flaherty and Craig Kimbrel pitched a scoreless inning apiece Saturday to trim the bullpen’s majors-leading ERA to 1.35, and Braves relievers haven’t allowed any of their 12 inherited runners to score.

• Watch this pitch that Evan Gattis hit off Stephen Strasburg for a home run Saturday: Absolutely ridiculous, in a great way. He got on top of a 96 mph fastball enough to drive it out for a decisive home run, despite Strasburg’s velocity and movement.
