As I predicted this morning Jason Heyward was indeed put on the 15 day DL backdated to the 22nd. I also predicted Fredi Gonzalez would do the opposite from my suggestion and he did, at least fro game 1.
To fill Heyward’s roster spot Tyler Pastornicky was recalled from Gwinnett. Rev was tearing up AAA is tearing up AAA .351/.372/.473/.845 so when choosing a bat his was the obvious choice. The lineup for Game one shows Simba back in the leadoff spot and Reed Johnson starting in right field presumably to gain the platoon advantage over the left handed Jeff Francis. The complete lineup is:
"Andrelton Simmons SSB.J. Upton CFJustin Upton RFFreddie Freeman 1BChris Johnson 3BEvan Gattis CDan Uggla 2BReed Johnson RFMike Minor P"
I like having Simba leading off but don’t understand BJ’s invisible bat in the two hole. He maybe harder to double up than others and I suppose that’s something. I suspect Jordan Schaferand Laird will get a start in game two if they haven’t frozen to the benches by then.
