Punching Tickets – the Weekly Braves Transaction Wrap Sheet
BREAKING NEWS: Paul Janish recalled from Gwinnett. No word on the corresponding move from Atlanta, but I will hazard a guess that Ramiro Pena will be placed on the Disabled List, retroactive to the beginning of the week [CONFIRMED].
We aim to make this a weekly bit – but we’ll back up to the beginning of the month just to get things caught up.
This time of the year, there are a LOT of player re-assignments taking place. This is partly because of the break in most minor league schedules (first half ending; second half beginning). It is also because the just-drafted/just-signed rookies are beginning play – as our new Danville Braves team did last night, beating up on a squad of what honesty requires me to describe as “Rays’ underachievers”… none of whom had been drafted this year. Nonetheless, the 9-1 victory was an excellent start, with these headliners:
