A lot has been said about the leadoff spot in the Atlanta Braves lineup and who would be batting in that spot.  Now that we are close to half way through the 2013 season, we’ve learned a few things about the guys who were preseason picks to be slated in that spot.

Andrelton Simmons is a guy who could possibly take over this spot and most wanted Simba to run away with it.  He’s proven he still has a few things to learn batting here.  Andrelton has played 42 games leading off for the Braves and has a slash line of .223/.253/.304 and only eight walks.

B.J. Upton was another guy who could of taken the leadoff spot and ran to Mexico but in his 13 games leading off his slash line is .212/.293/.385.  In this spot he’s only had six walks and four runs off 11 hits.

Now Jordan Schafer, his slash line through 18 games in the leadoff spot is .313/.425/.522 with 13 walks, 12 runs and 21 hits.

So if you had to decide, I know there isn’t a fourth outfield spot and Justin Upton may still be injured but why not but YOU in Fredi Gonzalez‘s shoes….
