Evan Gattis has made head waves through the entire MLB staff, players, associations, broadcast and fans.  His story is unique and his play has been outstanding.  He has risen from darkness to a major league star in a matter of a half season.  But suffered another setback, his first as an MLB, that he’ll have to overcome.

On June 18th, Evan Gattis went on the 15 day DL to recover from an oblique strain he suffered supposedly taking a swing at a low pitch.  Braves fans and fantasy baseball players around all felt his pain.

We’ve been counted down the days for his return but we may not be counting a realistic date.  On Tuesday, Fredi Gonzalez said he hopes Gattis could return from the DL at or around the minimum 15 days required but Gattis has not been cleared yet to resume baseball activities.

Without swinging the bat yet, my gut says he is still recovering and won’t return on July 3rd.  I would give it another week after his scheduled date of return, July 11th to start a home series against the Cincinnati Reds.
