Atlanta Braves Tim Hudson To Start Game 1

Tim Hudson takes the mound for the first time since taking to the media his frustrations over being removed earlier than wanted from last Saturday’s start.  Fredi Gonzalez removed Hudson immediately after giving up a game tying two run home run on his 100th pitch of the afternoon.

After the game Hudson told the media “I would have liked the opportunity to have a decision.  A hundred pitches, to me is not really a magic number to take you out of the game.  You work real hard the whole game.  There’s one pitch that a guy puts a good swing on, on a pitch away and ties the game up.  Apparently, you need 16 years in the big leagues to get that chance.”

After Hudson spoke to the media, Gonzalez spoke on his comments “You don’t want stuff like that out open in the press, but Huddy’s a [heck] of a competitor.  He’s one of the guys that in a battle, in a big game, you want him on the mound.  So I’m fine with that.”

Hudson will face Philadelphia Phillies Cliff Lee on Friday night.  Huddy is 0-6 in his past 10 starts while Lee is 7-0 with a 2.15 ERA in his past 11.

Game starts tonight at 7:05pm ET at Citizens Bank Park
