2013 All-Star Rosters
By Jeff Schafer
On Saturday, the names of the men who will play for their leagues were announced as well as the starters for both AL and NL. The All-Star managers Bruce Bochy (Giants) and Jim Leyland (Tigers) were chosen as the mangers because they appeared in the 2012 World Series. If you’d like to look at the rest of the coaching staffs, they are available right here.
The All-Star rosters run 35 players deep, but only 34 players for each team were announced on Saturday. The final spot is up for grabs via the Final Vote (this is where we need your help in voting in Freddie Freeman) Here’s the ballot. Any starting pitchers who pitch Sunday, July 14, are not eligible to pitch in the All-Star Game itself, which will be played at Citi Field in New York on Tuesday, July 16th. The Home Run Derby will be played on July 15th, and the Futures Game will be on July 14th.
All 30 teams get at least one representative in the All-Star Game. Keep in mind that injured players will be replaced on the rosters between now and then. Supposedly Yadier Molina injured his knee and may take this time to heel up for the rest of the season. Brian McCann may get the phone call to replace the ailing catcher.
