Atlanta fans are itching to see Brandon Beachy back, firmly ensconced in a big league uniform, and delivering the same kind of stuff he had before having to take off more than a year for Tommy John surgery.  Fans were about to get their wish as Brandon was progressing nicely, and slightly ahead of schedule.  A setback from inflammation in the elbow caused a three week delay in his rehab stints with Gwinnett, but MLB reporter Mark Bowman said on Twitter that Beachy is scheduled to resume his rehab duties with Gwinnett Tuesday.

According to manager Fredi Gonzalez, Brandon has thrown well recently.  Fredi went on to say….

"We’ll see how he comes out tomorrow. Always got to wait to see how he comes out. And then (Beachy, pitching coach Roger McDowell and head trainer Jeff Porter) will get together and see where we go from there. But I saw a pretty good bullpen."

In five minor league starts before his setback, Brandon was 2-1 with a 3.27 ERA, and hopes there will be no further setbacks this season.  Should Brandon stay on course and regain his form of last year, it remains to be seen just exactly how the Braves will use him, but with a number of pitching hiccups lately, Brandon’s return will hopefully be sooner rather than later.
