Atlanta Braves’ Brandon Beachy’s Post Game Quotes

You could tell on the look of Brandon Beachy‘s face as he walked to the dugout in the 4th inning of last nights game that he was disappointed with his outing.  He expects a lot out of himself and puts a lot of pressure on him to do well…just like most ball players.

In his post game sound, we heard more frustrations…

“It still stings, I’m not going to chalk this up to part of the process…no I’m not going to do that,” Beachy said.  “I pitched poorly and really let the guys down after they came back and got the lead.  That’s not acceptable no matter what the circumstances.”

Was it more location than anything else?

“You know what…I thought I commanded my fast ball pretty well.  I got in trouble with hanging some breaking balls.  It seemed like everyone I hung, they crushed it.  They didn’t miss those mistakes.”

What will you take from the night?

“I feel good physically, I just need to refine the off speed especially.  I felt like I was ahead in a lot of counts and I was real close in getting out of some situation and they were fouling balls off then I made a mistake and they capitalized.”

Did your breaking ball feel different than it did in your last starts in Triple-A?

“At times, I threw some good ones and just not enough of those.”

How much, with this being your first start, was nervous involved?

“I really don’t think so, I went out there from the get go I was throwing strikes and if any of that would of been a factor, that’s where it would of shown up.  I would of been all over the place to start, but i wasn’t.  I was right there, it’s just a matter of executing when I was ahead.”

Fredi Gonzalez on Brandon Beachy

“First outing, it’s tough to even evaluate his first outing…I’m not even going to do that.  It’s like coming out of spring training for him and maybe even worse because of Tommy John.  So we will see how he feels tomorrow, throw on the side, and go get em’ in five days.”

Kris Medlen took to twitter a little good luck to his buddy and teammate…

As a fellow Tommy Johner, I can’t explain how big of a day this is for @Brandon_Beachy . Hard work can get you a lot of places in life!
