Punching Tickets: Minor League Transactions

Things have slowed down on the bus over the past couple of weeks… mostly.  The Rookie Leagues are well under way, and mid-season transactions have slowed as a result.  So let’s see what’s happened in the two weeks since we last looked in (July 16-August 2nd).

Hmmm…. should I go ahead and mention tomorrow’s transaction?  It’ll probably go like this:

• B.J. Upton re-activated from 15-day disabled list (Atlanta)
• Todd Cunningham optioned to AAA Gwinnett
• Nope:  it’s Gerald Laird to the DL, retroactive to 7/26, as he recovers from the kidney stone procedure he had a couple of days ago.

• LHP Blaine Sims – 7/21, assigned from the Lynchburg Hillcats
• LHP Sean Gilmartin – 7/25, assigned from AAA Gwinnett on a rehab assignment
• LHP Nelson Leon – 7/26, moved to the 60-day disabled list
• Richard Paulino – 7/29, graduating from the Dominican Summer League team

Appalachian Rookie League – DANVILLE BRAVES

• Blake Brown – 7/16, assigned from the Rome Braves
• RHP Tyler Brosius – 7/20, assigned from the Danville Braves
