The Juice: Marlins snap Braves 14-game winning streak with three-hit shutout

Yahoo Sports

We knew the Braves we’re going to lose eventually. We just didn’t envision it happening in the manner it did against the team it did on Saturday night. Thanks to a lone ninth inning run that scored on a wild pitch that scooted away from catcher Evan Gattis, Atlanta fell to the Miami Marlins, 1-0, snapping their remarkable 14-game winning streak and their undefeated roll since Waffle House was introduced to Turner Field in the process.

Jordan Schafer Expected Back Saturday Night

Atlanta Bullpen

tlanta Braves outfielder Jordan Schafer will be activated before Saturday night’s game, according to Dave O’Brien of the AJC.

Schafer, who has been out with a stress fracture in his right ankle, has been rehabbing at Triple-A Gwinnett.  Schafer was only 2 of 32 in 8 rehab games at Gwinnett, so his timing still has not returned, even though he is ready to play physically.  He struck out four times, walked once and both his hits were doubles at Gwinnett.

Marlins try to prevent Braves from starting new streak

11Alive

(Sports Network) – The Miami Marlins were able to prevent the Atlanta Braves from extending their winning streak to 15 straight games. On Sunday, the NL East’s last-place club has a chance to pick up a series victory over the division leaders in the finale of a three-game series at Turner Field.

The Marlins looked as though they would waste another solid outing by Nathan Eovaldi in Saturday’s meeting as the game was scoreless heading into the ninth inning. That is when Adeiny Hechavarria opened the frame with a triple off of Braves reliever Jordan Walden, who then unleashed a wild pitch that allowed the Marlins shortstop to score.
