Welcome to our Mets @ Braves Preview, and Live Game Threads

The New York Mets (62-73) will be in Atlanta at Turner Field this afternoon to begin a three-game series against the NL East leading Atlanta Braves (83-53), and we’ll be doing another Live Game Thread for the series.

LHP Paul Maholm (9-10, 4.37) will take the mound against the Mets and RHP Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-2, 8.68) in game 1, and Paul Maholm will hope to continue to improve upon his last outing, where Paul limited the Cleveland Indians to just one run over six innings pitched.

Maholm suffered a wrist contusion and was on the DL for more than a month.  He returned to the rotation against the St. Louis Cardinals on August 22nd, and had a rough return, allowing five runs in just under six innings.  He’s improved though, and will hope to have another strong outing against the Mets.

In contrast to Maholm’s improvements since returning to the lineup, Daisuke Matsuzaka has been uncharacteristically bad since joining the Mets on August 22, allowing nine runs and 12 hits in two starts.  In his last start against the Philadelphia Phillies, Daisuke gave up four runs and six hits in just over four innings in that loss.

Probables

Monday:  Mets RHP Daisuke Matsuzaka (0-2, 8.68) vs. Braves LHP Paul Maholm (9-10, 4.37), 1:10 p.m. ET

Tuesday Mets RHP Carlos Torres (3-2, 2.77) vs. Braves RHP Kris Medlen (11-12, 3.58), 7:10 p.m. ET

Wednesday:  RHP Dillon Gee (10-9, 3.63) vs. Braves RHP Julio Teheran (11-7, 3.01), 12:10 p.m. ET

Live Game Threads

We realize all fans lead busy lives, and we do as well, but we also know that when you’re at home, watching the game in the comfort of your man (or lady) cave, sometimes you’re watching it all by your lonesome.  It’s good to have other like-minded fans to be able to discuss the game with, but sometimes other people just don’t get how important these games are!  Our live threads give you the chance to talk baseball, comment, rant, and rave about all things Braves!

Come on then, what are you waiting for?  All you have to do is grab your laptop, iPad, Tab, Note, or whatever else you use to satisfy your cravings for sports, and keep it nearby while watching the game.  When you see Paul Maholm back out and back to form, and you wanna say, “Why did I ever doubt this veteran!” … you can do it, baby!  If you see Chris Johnson back in his regular spot at 3B, picking up right where he left off, and you wanna say, “BABIP my butt!”…. you can do it!  Heck, even if you happen to be a Mets fan, you can rant among all the raves!  We don’t discriminate.  Heck!  We even love and accept the SABR guys! 😉

To get started with your comments, just scroll down until you see the Comments section.  If you have a Disqus account for commenting, feel free to log in and use it to comment, but you don’t have to.  Anyone can comment with the Disqus system.  Stay tuned throughout the game and refresh the page often to see new comments.  Let’s have some fun talking about our Atlanta Braves!

If you have any trouble with commenting, have a question, or need help, feel free to shoot us a DM on Twitter.
