Live Game Thread: 9/22 Braves Cubs (Game 3)

Live Thread!  Atlanta Braves Vs. Chicago Cubs – Rubber Match

Well, if you think the Braves ought to already have clinched the NL East, you’d be right.  Alas, the corks on the champagne bottles haven’t been popped open yet, but the Braves will have another chance this afternoon.  We might have seen the clinch off the field last night, except that the Nationals / Marlins game was postponed due to inclement weather.

The Marlins and Nationals will play the makeup game in a doubleheader this afternoon and evening, and technically, because the Nationals play at 1:35 PM EST, and the Braves don’t get started until 2:20 PM EST, a Nats loss could occur before the conclusion of the Braves and Cubs game and secure the clinch even if we lose.   Funny thing, baseball!

I will say that the Atlanta Braves have what I consider to not only be the best lineup they can field today, but the lineup I personally hope we’ll see through the end of the season, and into the playoffs.  It’s proven to be the most effective lineup, and on the field behind a sharp Julio Teheran gives the Braves a great chance to clinch, even if the Nats also win.  Only time will tell.

Take a look at today’s lineup for the two teams, and join us below in our comments section for our Live Thread!  Come and talk Braves’ baseball with us.

Clinch if we win, but we could clinch even if we lose, and we could clinch even before our game is over if things go right elsewhere. hehe.

Experiment. We mute our TVs and Radios, and see if we see the Braves players demeanor change, as an indication the Marlins won.

Jason Heyward singles on a line drive to left fielder Junior Lake. None out.

Love Freddie going Gap to gap. I wonder where experts who told me Freddie’s swing was no good when he first came up are now?

    • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Lee visits here from time to time ;) just kidding, but really, am I?

      • fireboss

Wasn’t Lee that said that. Was the Heyward worshipers

        • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

The fact is, Freeman has a one piece swing. Very little wrong with it, and it hasn’t changed much since his 1st year.

          • fireboss

When I first saw i tI though it looked a little like Will Clark but the more I think about it the more I think it might be Rafael Palmeiro

          • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Yeah, now that you mention it, it does look similar. Freddie uses his hips for power… it’s really a thing of beauty.

  • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Even an ugly swing can go yard lol

I smell a clinch. It’s a vague odor, fruity, yet with a hint of butt cheese.

    • fireboss

Its rotting fish.. sometimes the other side of butt cheese

      • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

    • fireboss

I can but it will b e later as I have company

      • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

I’m working on one. No real need for a length piece. I’ll blurb it, and focus on the business at hand.

        • fireboss

Okay thanks. Everythign here’s been on hold for real life interventions and only one typing hand for a few days – repetitive motion injury that comes and goes

The video of the 05 baby Braves celebration also highlights just how unpredictable prospects are and Marcus Giles PEDs, yes or no?

    • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

After the ban, his career imploded. That said, like most other things, purely conjecture without a positive test. I’d ere on the side of “no”

      • fireboss

yes looking at his numbers I agree. He’s the only one I ever thought might be suspected
