Before Thursday’s game, Brian McCann spoke to the media about the occurrences on Wednesday with Carlos Gomez.

“In the heat of the moment, I did what I thought was right,” McCann said.  “I stand by what I did.  I’m sticking up for this team and I don’t think that’s part of baseball.  And reading what he (Gomez) said after the game, I think he agrees with it.”

Prior to the game MLB issued its punishments for the “brawl”.

Carlos Gomez suspended one game and fined.

Reed Johnson suspended one game and fined.  (who is appealing the suspension)

Brian McCann and Freddie Freeman fined undisclosed amount.

Then, during the 1st inning of last nights game McCann struck out and may have injured himself at the worst time of the season – heading into October.

“I think he’s going to be OK,” Fredi Gonzalez told reports after the game.  “He was sore after catching David Hale‘s bullpen, and it never loosened up.”

It took many long minutes to even get an update from the broadcast team last night but on our game thread last  night, we noticed it right away when Gerald Laird was at the plate.  This led to many questions of, “is it an injury?” “is this for rest?”…

Later we heard that it was indeed an injury and it was diagnosed as a right adductor strain.

McCann spoke after the game and said worst-case scenario, he’s out till start of division series.  They think they got it early enough that it’s not serious.

So that sounds like a six day resting period for BMac and he will supposedly be ready for post season action.
