Live From LA!

No, we’re not really in LA, but our hearts are – hearts completely behind the Braves for an LA sweep and NLDS Title!  This is one of those rare circumstances where the Braves are on the road, which is not so good, but where you don’t want them to return to Atlanta to play another game!  If they can sweep the games in LA, they’ll return to Atlanta as NLDS Title holders.

The Atlanta Braves are in Los Angeles now for games 3 and 4 of the NLDS.  At Turner Field, the Dodgers took game 1 behind the stellar pitching of Clayton Kershaw, and the less then stellar, and unusually shaky outing of the Braves’ Kris Medlen.  Atlanta came back with a flourish in game 2 though behind good pitching from Mike Minor, despite the Dodgers having Zack Greinke on the bump.

In LA tonight, rookie Julio Teheran will start for the Atlanta Braves, and so far we’ve heard no change in the Dodger’s plan to use Hyun-jin Ryu.  Ryu has nursed a sore elbow, and his doctors recently watched him throw a bullpen session, but the LA front office insists that Ryu will be good to go tonight.  For a look at what we might expect from Ryu, take a look at my analysisposted earlier today.

Smoother palette, less head but also less bitter. Good choice.

It cuts the bitter taste of this insufferable Braves’ performance. It’s like I said in my recent post… feast or famine… famine game 1, feast game 2, famine again game 3. If this holds up, we win tomorrow for sure.

Reckon this is getting out of reach?

    • Glen Morrow

Yep , it is we have tomorrow hopefully play better

      • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Be all we have if we don’t step it up.

        • fireboss

we cannot play like that. These guys are bad on defense and their pen isn’t good until the 8th. We must bow our back or just head home

          • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

We just have to pitch much better. I wouldn’t have tough Meds or Teheran either one would hiccup like they have.

  • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Hot Stove for TT might come faster than we’d hoped. LOL

  • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

I’m so mad, I might go re-arrange my sock drawer.

    • Glen Morrow

If you do see if you can find some runs for the Braves in there

  • Glen Morrow

well we ain’t down but 6 runs and still early

    • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Yeah, we’ve come back from worse. It’s just human nature to focus bleakly.

  • fireboss

I hate to look backward but when you load the bases with no one out and get only 2 runs off a pitcher who has no idea what’s happening the other team is bound to come back

    • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Look back you’ll turn to salt, which I wish we’d played with a bit more of tonight!

    • http://tomahawktake.com/ carpengui

Yeah – that’s the biggest gripe I have with this team – not enough killer instinct. The Dodgers just did that – had a guy on the ropes and punished him.

  • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

I feel like DG the way we’ve played.

  • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Not feeling well. Going to watch the remainder of this game from the comfort of my bed. Night everyone.

Just an aside, when Hirshbeck calls balls and strike the home team wins over 60 % of the time and as high as 75 lowest he’s been since 2007 was 57.5%.

    • http://tomahawktake.com/ carpengui

Huh – I sure didn’t catch that tidbit.

      • fireboss

I thought that was the number so I wen went and checked the database

  • fireboss

    odds on bj striking out?

    • http://tomahawktake.com/ carpengui

      I was gonna go 75%

      • fireboss

I was going to say 90% but I guess we were both too optimistic
