Braves, Ramiro Peña Avoid Arbitration

Alongside a trio of non-tenders, the Braves have announced they have agreed to terms with INF Ramiro Pena on a 1 year deal.

Pena, 28, saw his 2013 season end prematurely due to a shoulder injury sustained while landing making plays on tough grounders at third base on June 9th. Before the surgery, he was a pleasant surprise for the club, slashing .278/.330/.443 through 107 plate appearances, while fielding a solid second base, third base, and shortstop.

The financial terms were not revealed, as per norm with the Braves press releases. Pena is in his first year of arbitration eligibility, and MLBTradeRumors projected a $600k salary for the switch hitting infielder, who joined the Braves via free agency last offseason with a 1 year/$550k contract.
