Another pitcher the Atlanta Braves were supposedly targeting, Bartolo Colon, has signed with the New York Mets.  The contract looks to be a two-year, $20MM deal according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

This salary is a handful and I’m glad the Brave decided not to ver down this road.  This deal is only one million less than what former Tim Hudson received from the Giants.

Colon, 40, pitched in 2013 to a 2.65 ERA with 5.5 K/9 and 1.4 BB/9 in 30 starts last season for the Oakland A’s.

Colon didn’t seem high on Frank Wren’s clipboard but I believe he was a potential guy if the price was right.  Obviously, the price wasn’t and he will be a Met.

Should we be concerned with the new additions to the Mets?  I’d say no, Colon will join Zack Wheeler, Dillon Gee and Jonathon Niese in the rotation.  Not a scary rotation with their best pitcher on the shelve for the season, Matt Harvey.

In other divisional news The Phillies are “selling the crap out of Jonathan Papelbon,” one executive told Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly.  Hopefully the Braves stay far away from that.
