Atlanta Braves Joey Terdoslavich Ventures Back To The Dominican Republic

Joey Terdoslavich will head back south to the Dominican Republic for the Liga de Beisbol Dominicano (Dominican Winter League) playoffs.

Terdo played the 2013 winter season with the Toros del Este but his contract was bought by Aguilas Cibaenas in the last couple days.  Aguilas is the number two seed in the Dominican playoffs as they finished with a 31-19 record.

The 6’0″ 200 pound infielder/outfielder hit .291/.340/.422 with Toros in the 24 games he played in.  He had two home runs, two triples and three doubles.

Joey was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the sixth round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of Long Beach State University.  He ranked No. 15 among Braves prospects by MLB.com entering the 2013 season.  In 79 at bats for the Braves in 2013, he hit .215/.315/.266.

He joined the Aguilas team on Friday night as the team took on Tigres del Licey.  Terdo batted fifth in a lineup that had the best team average in the Dominican League (.275) and playing first base.

Licey was able to get an early lead as they scored two in the 2nd inning and another run in the 3rd inning.  In the bottom of the 4th inning, Aguilas was able to get on the board when Zollo Almonte doubled and then Terdoslavich grounded out to score him.

As the game went into the bottom of the 9th inning, Licey still held a 3-1 lead.  Almonte led off and singled then Hector Luna doubled.  With runners on second and third, Terdoslavich was up.  Terdo grounds out to short up Almonte was able to score. 3-2 Licey.

Alex Valdez flies out and Alexis Gomez lines out to end the game.  Licey takes game 1 3-2 and Terdo goes 0-4 but has two RBIs.

Hector Noesi started for Licey going 6 complete innings and only giving up one run to pick up the victory.  Juan Nicasio, pitching for Aguilas, only went 2.1 innings.

Licey is filled with MLB players with Emilio Bonifacio, Erick Aybar, Yamaico Navarro and former Atlanta Brave Juan Francisco.
