Where Do Atlanta Braves Stack Up On Scouts.com Prospect List

Scout.com has released their Minor League rankings for 2014 and while it may take a few names to read through before seeing an Atlanta Braves player, the names soon show up.

The Braves’ fan base has come accustom to having top MLB prospects inside their organization, whether it be Jeff Francoeur, Jason Heyward or Julio Teheran, we’ve enjoyed seeing high prospect rankings.

Now as the website Scout.com has released their 2014 prospect list Lucas Sims is the Braves top prospect listed at 30th.  Christian Bethancourt was listed at 66th, Mauricio Cabrera fell into the 91st spot and Jose Peraza filled out the final Brave and final listed player at 100th.

As the time rolled over to 2014, the folks here at Tomahawk Take gathered to debate our Top 30 prospects in the Braves division.  When we concluded our top eight list looked like this – Sims, J.R. Graham, Jason Hursh, Bethancourt, Cabrera, Cody Martin, Joey Terdoslavich and Peraza.

Scouts top 10 were Minnesota’s Byron Buxton, St. Louis’ Oscar Taveras, Houston’s Carlos Correa, Oakland’s Addison Russell, Cleveland’s Francisco Lindor, Pittsburgh’s Gregory Polanco, Arizona’s Archie Bradley, Chicago Cubs’ Albert Almora, Seattle’s Taijuan Walker and Chicago Cubs’ Kris Bryant.

Others in the National League East were…

Philadelphia Phillies’ – Maikel Franco (24), J.P. Crawford (57), Jesse Biddle (96).

Miami Marlins – Andrew Heaney (42) and Colin Moran (46).

New York Mets – Noah Syndergaard (16), Dominic Smith (74) and Rafael Montero (78).

Washington Nationals – Lucas Giolito (17) and A.J. Cole (93).

In 2013, Teheran (32) joined Christian Bethancourt (65) and Graham (87) as the Braves representatives on Scout’s list.

In 2012, Teheran (4) topped the Braves list followed by Arodys Vizcaino (21), Bethancourt (37) and Randall Delgado (55).

In 2011, Freddie Freeman (31) led for the Braves, then Mike Minor (43), Craig Kimbrel (105) and Delgado (109).
