Two pitchers, same birthday, but far apart years.

Gavin Floyd and Julio Teheran are both celebrating their January 27th birthday.  However, Floyd was born in 1983 and Teheran was born in 1991.

The now 31-year-old joined the Braves on December 16th 2013 as a free agent after six seasons with the Chicago White Sox.  Before then, he was a part of the Philadelphia Phillies organization – drafted in 2001 by the Phillies in the 1st round, 4th overall pick and pitched three seasons in the MLB with the Phils.

On December 6th 2006, he was traded by the Phillies with Gio Gonzalez to the White Sox for non other then our newest acquisition, Freddy Garcia.

In 10 career MLB seasons, Floyd has a 70-70 record with a 4.48 ERA.

Teheran enters his 23-year-old season as a pivotal pitcher in the Braves rotation.  In 2013, Teheran began to show a glimpse of the potential everyone has spoke of for years.  In 30 starts, he went 14-8 with a 3.20 ERA and 1.174 WHIP.  He had 170 strikeouts in 185.2 innings pitched while only allowing 45 walks.

Julio will go into the 2014 season as potentially the third pitcher in the Braves rotation behind Kris Medlen and Mike Minor.

So without further ado, Happy Birthday Gavin Floyd and Julio Teheran!
