Atlanta Traffic, Awful To Say The Least

In the middle of one of the worst traffic jams Atlanta has ever seen, Atlanta Braves first basemen Freddie Freeman was stuck.  Cars were struck on the highway like a parking lot for hours on end.  Many busses were on this highway with kids in them as well as people running out of gas in the middle of the road.

He wasn’t the only one though….check this photo of the traffic….AND THIS WAS TAKEN THIS MORNING!!

The evening was awful and I hope everyone is safe and sound this morning.

A couple other Braves mention on Twitter about the traffic situation.

One person was retrieved from an ex-teammate, Freddie!  He was home safe after 11 hours of being stranded.  Guess who saved him?

You guessed it…Chipper Jones

This was truly the perfect storm of poor planning, bad forecasting by Atlanta meteorologists, and having a craptacular road system here in Atlanta.

As a Wisconsinite, this is somewhat comical, but still serious. I realize the South isn’t properly prepared for ice storms, but everyone acting like the world is going to end is odd. We just spent nearly 60 straight hours below zero up here, but most of us just put another layer on and went about our business.

I’m from Illinois and understand your position but the south isn’t equipped to handle this kind of weather and the people don;t expect it. You can say awful weather coming but this particular event is something that doesn’t compute. When we had a similar storm here a couple of months back it was a similar story.
