With the season Dan Uggla had in 2013, everyone was writing the hate mail and looking for who could play second base in 2014.  Possibly Dan didn’t like all the negativity and decided to show up to Spring Training ready to go.  Or possibly he realized if he doesn’t preform now, his career could be over – at least with the Braves.

Yes, I’m aware it’s Spring Training and these stats will be wiped clean come March 31st but let’s put the numbers on the table.

In 18 games, Uggla has four home runs, 12 RBIs, one triple, 10 walks with a slash line of .262/.407/.595 with the only downfall is strikeouts as he has 15 with spring.

The 34-year-old said a couple days ago that he watched a lot of film in the offseason and changed his swing a little by widening his stance just a little.

It seems like the 2014 season has been nothing but bad news but the Uggla spotting could possibly be great news if he can continue this success into the season.

On Saturday, Uggla kept things going with a home run off Boston Red Sox starter John Lackey.

Thanks to Uggla’s new wife for taking a couple pictures of the home run swing and the scoreboard.
