The Atlanta Braves family will celebrate two birthdays on April 3rd as Ryan Doumit and Luis Vasquez were each born on this day.
Doumit, who was acquired by the Braves on December 18, 2013, will turn 33 years young. He has yet to receive an at-bat in 2014 but he does receive the day off! Ryan had a decent Spring Training with a slash line of .289/.347/.444 with five doubles and three RBIs in his 49 plate appearances.
Being a versatile bench player, Ryan can play catcher, right field or first base. His main role for the Braves this season will be power off the bench.
The 6’4″ 200 pound right-handed relief pitcher, Vasquez is on the 40-man roster for the Braves but will pitch for Triple-A Gwinnett.
During the 2014 Spring Training, Vasquez appeared in four games and pitched 3.2 innings. He gave up six runs but only one was an earned run. Walks are what killed any chances he had of making the team as he had six!
Happy Birthday to Ryan and Luis!!
