JOIN US NOW: Atlanta Braves Vs. Washington Nationals: Live Thread Game 3

The Atlanta Braves take on the Washington Nationals Sunday afternoon.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:35pm Eastern.  This will be the third game of the 19 games these rivals have against each other in 2014.

Atlanta has taken the first two games, 2-1 on Friday and 6-2 on Saturday, in their nemesis home park and will attempt to complete a three-game sweep.  Alex Wood gets the start for the Braves while Taylor Jordan gets his first start of the season in Sunday afternoon’s series finale at Nationals Park.

The Nationals lineup looks extremely different than their opening day lineup.  Bryce Harper and Ryan Zimmerman are out of the lineup as well as their catcher Wilson Ramos who will miss a lot of time with a hand injury.

Heyward has some neck spasms going on this morning after he tweaked it last night when fouling off a ball.  Simmons and Johnson are both battling a cold and Gattis supposedly has lost seven pounds in the last 24-hours due to a stomach virus he has.

The game will be televised on Fox Sports South or on the radio on WCNN 680/WYAY 106.7, Braves Radio Network, WLBA 1130.

hehe here’s another one. When you visit Gerald’s home, it’s a multi-layered home.

Just call me the John Smoltz of TT.

When you visit Gerald he happily invites you into his Laird-d

    Wood doing an amazing job

  • Jeff Schafer

will we see wood in the 7th? i’d say no

    • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

      Knowing Fredi, doubtful

      • Jeff Schafer

        well i was wrong

        • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Yeah, but we were both counting on Fredi to be Fredi

    • Glen Morrow

I would leave him in , he has them batters baffled.

      • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

I would too, but see below

      • fireboss

Seconded. Hasn’t had a really stressful inning lately although Mclouth saw a lot of pitches

  • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

    What’s Woody’s pitch count?

    • fireboss

91 or 92 depending on your source

      • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Well moot point now with him bunting, in answer to our previous question. I’m a touch surprised.

        • fireboss

after last night I’m not I think Fredi wants to stay out of the pen unless he’s forced to go. Too many injuries and too much inexperience

  • fireboss

    Nice bunt

    • Jeff Schafer

Alex runs funny…his hands flap in the wind

      • fireboss

we don;t pay him to run so that’s fine :) Seriously, ever see Pence run now that’s amusing but it works

        • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

They’re both what we affectionately sometimes call, neo-maxi zoon dweebis

          • fireboss

everyone makes fun of pence. When he was in Houston they used to say he looks awkward throwing, running catching the ball and hitting. He shouldn’t be good at all but he hits 280 with 25 homers and 90 rbi every year. looks aren’t everything

          • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

I love Pence, and I hate that Joe Simpson always makes snide comments about Pence when we play the Giants. Looks mean NOTHING!

          • Jeff Schafer

lol…i think you guys took that comment differently than original intended.

          • fireboss

Nah we just went off on a tangent

  • http://tomahawktake.com/ Julien Benjamin

Jason is really struggling right now

    • fireboss

Probably shouldn’t be playing with that neck spasm but all this 80% of Jason is better than the alternative stuff forces him to

  • http://tomahawktake.com/ Julien Benjamin

    Dang, BJ

  • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Day off tomorrow. I’m already forlorn

    • Jeff Schafer

      word of the day

      • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Yes, I like the word. Not often used anymore, but it conveys true emotion. :) hehe

  • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

    Good tool those phones Joe.

  • fireboss

    oops

  • fireboss

Woody’s been great. Braves should have a half dozen by now 0-risp

  • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

A man’s reach should always exceed his grasp.

  • http://tomahawktake.com/ Julien Benjamin

Not really a person who pays attention to pitcher records, but I’m really bummed that Wood’s gonna get an L for this effort. Just sucks, man. Probably shouldn’t have been out there in that case, but it’s all good.

    • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

Well, hindsight is always 20/20. Im not of the school that you should take a pitcher out when he’s throwing well, even if that is SOP for most clubs these days.

    • fireboss

1 game isn’t over 2. Woody did well and should have been there the loss belongs to the 0-Fer with RISP 3 see 1.

      • Jeff Schafer

i think that’s why wood went out there in the 8th to warm up, he wanted one more chance for the offense to get some runs to pick up the W

  • fireboss

    Time for #JUP to #Showup

  • fireboss

No excuse there should have hit the cookie then he wouldn’t have had to protect on the last pitch

Darvish is now fastest to 500 strikeouts. Previous record was Kerry Wood in 404 2/3 innings. Darvish just did it in 201 2/3..

    • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

I got him to win the CY this year. We shall see.

  • fireboss

what he won;t be able to do is hit that pitch

    • http://www.tomahawktake.com/ Chris Headrick

We just commented here on that nasty 6′ inch horizontal movement. Nasty

  • fireboss

That would have been funny Span’s Bat clocks Werth – without injury of course.

  • fireboss

    Rev sighting

  • fireboss

    Well that sucked

  • http://tomahawktake.com/ Julien Benjamin

I’ll take series wins all day.
