Braves Vs. Mets Live Thread: Honoring Hank Aaron!

Honoring Hank Aaron!

Tonight, the Atlanta Braves will honor and remember the greatest achievement for a player in Atlanta Braves’ history (and arguably in all of MLB history) – the 40th Anniversary of the 715th home run for Hammerin’ Hank Aaron, the home run that knocked the great Babe Ruth back a step in the record books, and cemented a lasting legacy for Mr. Aaron.  In my opinion, Hank Aaron is the best baseball player to EVER play the game!

A Special Braves Live! Pregame show is on as I write this, on SportSouth, and so even if you were unable to get to the Braves’ home opener tonight, you can see the organization and world, pay tribute to Hank Aaron.  At Tomahawk Take, we’ve already written a couple of pieces about Hank today.  Benjamin Chase wrote Remember Hank And His Moment, and Alan Carpenter wrote What If 715 Had Happend Today?

Preview and Live Thread

Tonight’s game is the first of a three game set against the visiting New York Mets, and is the home opener for our beloved Braves.  Brandon Woodworth wrote up a preview of the series, so check it out and then join us in our Live Thread tonight, as we talk about the game, and share our memories and thoughts about the absolute greatest player to ever wear not just a Braves’ jersey, but any jersey!

Don’t be shy!  Just scroll down below to our Disquis comment section, and let us know how you feel about Hank Aaron, the Braves, the season so far, or any expectations and hopes that you have for the 2014 season.  We love you Hank, and Go Braves!

The home run king is still Barry Bonds and anyone who tries to dispute this is burying their head in the sand… Why vilify Barry’s accomplishment when the entire sport of baseball is a Giant ****ASTERISKS***** When has baseball never been dirty or unfair in one way or another, from a white only league to cheating / throwing games, greenies, steroid, H.G.H and god only knows what other drugs were used and are still being used by players today… Cheating was allowed to happen, celebrated and approved in this sport from corked bats and doctored baseballs by players and MLB…. Managers who turned their heads while juiced players raked the ball out of pee-wee sized ball parks are voted into the hall of fame, passes are given to players who were never caught or suspected… guys like Jeter on a team ravaged with cheaters, his former friend the poster boy for Steroids abuse and Derek had zero clue about what was going on?, the same Jeter who is celebrated in circles for being the greatest leader and team captin in sport, i am just saying you cannot have it both ways…
This Hank Aaron thing is a sham, the only reason people are celebrating him is because they do not want to acknowledge Bonds…. before Barry passed 715 all i heard was BABE RUTH this Babe Ruth that you would think Babe was the home run king, Aaron’s name was never mentioned, and those slime balls in the media know who they are…. and on the day of Aaron’s record breaking homer a lot of people were not pleased, not just Fans of baseball but those in MLB.
