Craig Kimbrel to rest sore shoulder
Editorial Note: Kimbrel sits out Monday’s game with a sore right shoulder as David Carpenter got the call in the 9th inning from Fredi Gonzalez. Kimbrel tossed lightly on Tuesday and is listed as day-to-day.
"Atlanta Braves closer Craig Kimbrel was unavailable to pitch Monday night because of soreness in his right shoulder, and he is expected to be rested for a few days.Manager Fredi Gonzalez said Kimbrel would be day-to-day. He turned to setup man David Carpenter to record the final three outs in a 9-6 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies Monday at Citizens Bank Park.Kimbrel said after the game that he’s been bothered off and on by the issue since spring training. But he said it’s not serious and he expects to be back on the mound soon.“There’s no reason to push it this early in the year,” Kimbrel said. “It’s something that doesn’t really hinder me on the field. Being a pitcher, things get sore now and then. It’s just a little uncomfortable. I’ll take a few days off and be ready to go.”"
Dan Uggla’s grand slam gives Atlanta Braves wild win over Philadelphia Phillies
Editorial Note: Dan Uggla’s grand slam in the top of the 9th inning on Monday night made the Twitter world go crazy. Many haters of Dan as well as many supporters. Will he return to his pre-Braves days or is this just a glimpse of a hanging slider that Dan lunged at to hit it over the fence?
"Dan Uggla hit two home runs, including a grand slam in the ninth inning tonight that lifted the Atlanta Braves to a wild 9-6 win over the Philadelphia Phillies.Evan Gattis also homered twice as the Braves won their fourth straight. The teams combined for five homers and 12 runs in the final two innings.Gattis, Uggla and Andrelton Simmons hit consecutive homers in the eighth that put Atlanta ahead 5-1.Domonic Brown’s three-run homer capped a five-run bottom of the eighth that gave the Phillies a 6-5 lead. But the Braves rallied against Jake Diekman (1-1). B.J. Upton walked, Freddie Freeman reached on a grounder when second baseman Chase Utley tried for a forceout and Justin Upton walked. After Gattis struck out, Uggla drove a pitch from Diekman deep to left."
