Jason Heyward on Home Run Derby Ballot

About an hour ago, MLB.com launched it’s voting campaigns for both the home run derby and this years All-Star game, both being held at Minnesota’s Target Field here in 2014.  According to the release, Jason Heyward is one of ten nominees for the National League vote.

Although Heyward may be suffering from some bad luck here in the early going, he sure knows how to put on a batting practice display (just ask assistant GM Bruce Manno). The Braves don’t tend to get a lot of attention when it comes to these types of events:  the last Brave to participate in the event was Andruw Jones in his 50 homer 2005 campaign, so it’s a pleasant surprise to see Heyward amongst the more marketable and mainstream stars of the National League.  The other nominees are Yasiel Puig, Pedro Alvarez, Jay Bruce, Paul Goldschmidt, Buster Posey, Giancarlo Stanton, Troy Tulowitzki, and David Wright.

Fans are able to vote for three of the ten candidates in hopes that they will see their selection mash homer after homer on Monday, July 14 at 8 p.m. EST.  Tomahawk Take encourages everyone in Braves country to go out and vote for Jason!
