Atlanta Braves: Happy Birthday To An Up-And-Comer

Atlanta Braves 1st round selection, 22nd overall, in the 2012 Amateur Draft will end his teenage years and enter his 20’s.  Lucas Sundberg Sims will turn 20-years-old on May 10th as he continues to succeed and move up in the Braves minor league system.

The right-handed pitcher is currently pitching for the Lynchburg Hillcats – the Braves Class Advance A team.  He currently has a 2-3 record with a 4.06 ERA in seven starts in 2014.  He has struggled early this season with his command as he has 22 strikeouts and 12 walks through 37.2 innings pitched.

Heading into the 2014 season he was rated, in most rankings, Atlanta’s highest prospect and #40 by Baseball Prospectus after a tremendous season with the Rome Braves.  His record stood at 12-4 with a 2.62 ERA with 134 strikeouts in 116.2 innings pitched.

Though Sims is currently in Braves Class Advanced A, I’d be surprised if he stayed there the entire season.

Look for Sims to hopefully be in a Braves uniform and in their starting rotation in 2016.

Happy 20th Birthday Lucas Sims!!
